The weight is what got me—light enough that I forget it's on my back even when it's stuffed full for a day at the beach. That U-zip opening makes digging out a wet towel from the bottom a total non-issue, and it's held up fine through several paddle boarding trips.
The U-zip main compartment makes packing easy, but the straps feel a bit thin once the bag is loaded up for a full day out. It's fine for a short paddle board trip, though I wouldn't trust the weight distribution on anything too rugged.
